UHD (3840 x 2160) Display - Can't see (7 Comments)

I purchased a new laptop with a 15.6" diagonal UHD IPS UWVA anti-glare WLED-backlit (3840 x 2160) display and I noticed several programs don't display very well, Paperport being one of them and being one of my primary programs.  Any fix or work around for this?

OP Ult (19), with PP 14, Windows 8.1.  OP install appears OK.  Initial PP install produced "PaperPort has stopped working" error msg.   Tried several remedies, none worked, so finally Uninstalled PP, rebooted, and Reinstalled.

Upon attempting to start PP, now getting Error Msg "PaperPort appears to be running Windows XP Compatibility... see Technote 6629"

Alas, PP is NOT running in Win XP mode - although did try manually setting it to XP Mode (& then Win 7 mode), in hopes that Setting Compatibility and then Reversing it would "Fix" the issue.

It has not.  

Along the way, have tried "Repair", Run as Admin, Changing DEP settings, running the Win 8 Compatibility Test.

FWIW, systems says it is running PaperPort File Version 14.5.13205.1029, as Product Version 14.5.

OH: Also read something along lines that "certain security settings may automatically impose Windows XP Compatibility," but with no mention as to WHICH Security settings, OR what to do about it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Using PP 14.5 Prof - today when I opened Paperport every document gives me this message after opening in ImageView. It won't allow any editing of any kind. None of the files are password protected or encrypted and it's happening to all files. New, old whether printed to ScanSoft or dropped into PP manually. Any ideas?

Hi,  I've been using PP 14.5 on Win 10 since Dec 2015 without serious issue. Win 10 just did an update and now, upon launching PP, I get a message window on top of the PP desktop indicating I'm running in XP Compatibility Mode.  When I dismiss the message PP quits so the program is now completely unusable.  I was able to verify that I'm not running PP in XP compatibility mode.  

 I tried rebooting - no change.  Can anyone help?

RESIZE Function Does NOT Work in Image View - PP14 (14 Comments)

I think, perhaps, this has been discussed, but just in case it has not:

 

In IMAGE VIEW mode, in PP14, the RESIZE function does not work. If you choose RESIZE and pick any size, any resolution, any change at all, you will get an error message that the requested size is too large. ("The requested size is too large. Please use smaller values, or reduce the image DPI.") This happens even if you are trying to REDUCE an existing image. It's broken.

RESIZE does work under SET tools on the Desktop, but it can only do percentage resizing and/or DPI change. Setting a specific size requires calculating what percentage change might be correct. (I know: "How lazy can you get!"....but I guess I can be pretty lazy about things that need to be done often. :-)   )

 

This is unfortunate, becuse the function has worked properly in previous versions, but is broken in PP14. I used it a lot before.

Perhaps, if there is enough interest here, we could get the people at Nuance to work on it.

After a few pages are scanned via the document feeder the process stops and this error message is displayed:

"out of memory, not enough memory for the scanning device, close other programs and try again."

There is plenty of memory available, (18 gbytes). I have been scanning documents over the last week or so and only over the last couple of days has this message been halting the document scanning. HP 5510 Win 8.1.

Retriving PaperPort scans and/or format from windows 7 computer (1 Comment)

My Windows 7 computer's hard drive started to fail and I retrieved some data including documents from it as  my technician ran a retrieval program. However, there were many PaperPort PDF scans that I have not found. I do not know where to look or how I would go about recreating the Paper Port File or installing it in Windows 10 even if I get PP 14.5. The PaperPort document folder has files in various topic headings that I do not recognize and did not create, like Articles, Banks Statements, Photographs. They seem to be generic, perhaps created by PP14. I converted to 14 from the pervious version.

I have an interesting issue that has come up.

 

Windows 8 64-bit, PaperPort14, Xerox Phaser 6180 multi-function.

 

Everything works just great, but whenever you are scanning a multipage document every page brings up a new progress bar, which in and of itself does not bother me, the problem is whenever this new progress bar pops up PaperPort will steal focus away from whichever window you happen to be working in while PP is in the background doing its scans. So on a large document every few seconds often for minutes on end Paperport pulls its window back to the front and takes you away from what you were doing. Is there a setting for this, is this a programming glitch that needs to be hammered out by nuance, or what?

With M'soft support help was able to re-install PP 14 and it seems to be working ok. Three questions:

1- I found I had files on CD to upgrade 14 to 14.1 and recall doing that when after first installed 14 sevl yrs ago.  Is it the concensus that I should try to run the 14.1 upgrade?  Installation advice wud b helpful.

2- I notice there is now a free upgrade to 14.5. Is it advisable to download and install that. What does it fix? When I install it, I assume that because it's an upgrade, I shouldn't uninstall 14 first. Should I skip 14.1 and go right to 14.5.

3- I remember the bug in 14.1 (or 14?) that put up a "trial version" watermark after a certain time period. There was a fix on the Nuance site which effectively erased the watermark.  Will I be needing to run that patch again.

Can Microsoft Onenote be set up as a new program link in Paperport? (4 Comments)

Can someone help me set up Microsoft Onenote 2010 as a program link in Paperport?   First of all, can it be set up as a prgraom link?  Second, when I get to the screen for file name and location, how do I locate it?

I have Paperport 14.5 and a Brother DSmobile 700D scanner. I had no trouble with the scanner when I was running Windows 8.1 but since upgrading to Windows 10, I get the error message: Unable to communicate with scanning device. Paperport lets me select the scanner and I've downloaded the latest scanner database but when I perform the tests I get a message saying that the scanner is not ready to function. I get an internal server error when I try to see the the hardware compatibility list but I believe the scanner is no longer supported.  The scanner will work with Windows 10 but I really like the way Paperport handles the documents. I don't think there is anything I can do with this scanner but I'll try any suggestions.

With that said, does anyone have any suggestions for an inexpensive sheetfed scanner? I usually use it for receipts and the occasional picture.  Thanks.

 

cannot scan multiple pages

I have a Brother mfc8510dw Printer, Fax, Scan

All the drivers for this printer are up to date.

Using the latest windows 10.

When I place several pages on the scanner, it only records 1 page. It appears to only read one page though all pages flow nicely through the scanner.

Using paperport 14 and scanning with a Dell B3465dnf using a TWAIN interface through a USB connection

The scanner will scan all 70 pages of a file very quickly, but when it is finished it will lose connection a few seconds after and then only save about 30 pages or half of the file. 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Had to reinstall PP14 from CD and all went well, everything works as it should except updates. The update manager is advising a software update patch 1 BEFIGSD needs to be applied, The patch downloads, goes through the installation process and advises it has completed all OK, nothing appears to have failed in the install. However, I am prompted to do the same install time and time again so clearly it is not working.

I have turned off antivirus, spyware etc to ensure this is not causing any conflicts when installing but still get the same result. Run out of ideas now of what to do check. Anyone have some ideas what might be the problem?

Apparently there is an update for my Paperport Pro 14:
PaperPort 14.5 Professional - Patch1 * -- 2015-08-31 -- 16.11 MB

However, I cannot download it because Software Manager tries, then reports:
Download Failed ...
Setup cannot continue because of the following error:
An Internet communication error occurred. Error Code: 404
Please contact the software vendor or try again at a later time.

However, it would cost me $10 to make any inquiry because I bought my Paperport over 90 days ago.

Help?
